This is what my DD looks like (not actually my car, just the same model):
Only difference is that mine is a darker blue. In any case, driving around has been miserable because every time my car when over any semblance of a bump in the road, you would here clunking in the suspension. Turns out it was the sway bar links that were worn out and now the ride noise is like a Mercedes S-class in comparison to what it used to be (it’s really, really not a S-class, but the problem used to be horrendous).
Luckily, it was only 70 bucks worth of parts (since both driver/passenger side links were replaced) and an hour of labour charged.
Now, there’s been another small, ongoing annoyance - my passenger rear drum brake (yes, this has front discs and rear drums) seems to make a weird rubbing/clicking noise under low speed braking, and the frequency of this noise is correlated with the speed the wheel is actually turning (i.e. the clicking noise slows as the car comes to a stop). I haven’t noticed any deterioration in braking performance, it’s just an annoying noise. Does anyone here know what can cause this? I didn’t ask the mechanic to look at it because I forgot, and it doesn’t seem to happen consistently.

I have had this same braking noise for a while now as well. You’ve described it perfectly. Except I’ve got 4 discs. Maybe it’s a warped caliper? If you figure it out, do share!

A broken spring or a worn brake cylinder thats stuck. That or a warped drum.
There arent many things that are in or around a drum that could make noise.

Fellow ‘09 Accent daily driver here too (although I have the hatchback). You’ve prob got the same dark blue/grayish color I’ve got (Midnight Gray Metallic).
Hmmm...not sure of your brake sound, but I’ve had clunking on mine as well! Two or three times now I’ve had to have bushings replaced since 2013 in my front suspension.

That’s the colour I have.
I had this fixed previously under warranty as well - looks like a weak point on this model. I’ve had a bunch of little things wrong but never anything serious - most annoying issues were with the driver’s side door where once, I couldn’t open the door from the inside, and another time where the door wouldn’t shut at all. In the latter instance, I had to drive to the dealer with one hand holding the door closed.
I’m at a point where the car still has some value (at least when I check the asking prices on Autotrader) and as much sense as it makes to drive it into the ground (it only has a bit over 48,000 kms) I kind of want to sell/trade while it’s worth something.

Same here, never anything serious at all, just somewhat annoying little things, which I can certainly live with. Little rattles here and there, the suspension bushings, a license plate bulb that cut out once and then magically came back and has worked fine since.
I’ll prob keep mine until it isn’t feasible to keep it going then sell it for cheap...they are supposed reliable little cars, so mine is at 96,000kms and should last for awhile yet!
